Door-to-door marketing that people do not ignore: scripts, routes and lead capture
By the Touchvane team ·
Door-to-door marketing works when it is planned like a route, not a flyer drop: map the catchment into daily beats, give promoters a 20-second opening with one clear offer, train them to be polite and quick, capture interest on the spot, and supervise coverage every day so gaps are filled before the campaign ends.
When door-to-door is worth it
Door-to-door is one of the most direct ways to reach households in a defined area. It suits showroom and branch launches, local schemes, home services and any offer that benefits from a short personal explanation. Touchvane has used it for a 20-day outreach campaign across Ernakulam district with 50 promoters a day for a new jewellery showroom, and for a ten-day statewide scheme launch with 50+ promoters per district, per day.
Plan routes, not just areas
- Map the catchment around the store or branch and split it into daily beats a pair of promoters can cover well.
- Prioritise dense residential areas, flats and housing colonies with the right audience.
- Plan visit times when people are home: late mornings and early evenings usually work better than mid-afternoon.
- Check whether residential associations or apartment complexes need permission first.
- Track which beats are done each day so nothing is missed or visited twice.
A short script that respects people's time
People decide in the first few seconds whether to listen. Give promoters a short opening in Malayalam that covers who they are, why they are there and one clear benefit, then hand over the flyer or card. For example: a greeting, the brand name, "we are opening a new showroom near the junction this Friday", the launch offer, and an invitation to visit.
Keep the conversation to under a minute unless the person asks questions. Train promoters to accept a "no" politely and move on. A courteous team leaves a good impression even with people who do not buy now.
Capture interest on the spot
A flyer alone is easy to forget. Give interested people a simple next step: a coupon to bring to the store, a missed-call or WhatsApp number, or a quick lead form on the promoter's phone with the person's consent. Record the area and date with each lead so you can see which beats perform best.
Supervise every day
- Attendance and GPS check-ins for every promoter
- Time-stamped photos from each beat
- Daily counts: households visited, flyers given, leads captured
- A supervisor checking quality in the field, not only numbers
- A short review each evening to adjust the next day's beats
