Planning Vishu 2027 now: temple Kaineettam and festive activation ideas
By the Touchvane team ·
Vishu falls in mid-April, and the strongest Vishu activations are planned from January: brands can take part in the Vishu Kaineettam tradition by giving a small branded gift at temples on Vishu morning, run festive sampling in markets and stores in the week before, and support in-store offers with promoters. Temple activations need permissions and careful, respectful planning.
Why Vishu matters for brands
Vishu marks the Malayalam new year and is one of Kerala's most important festivals. Families visit temples early in the morning after the Vishukkani, elders give Vishu Kaineettam (a small gift, traditionally money) to younger family members, and shopping for new clothes, gold and festive food peaks in the days before. For brands, it is a moment of goodwill and new beginnings.
Idea 1: Vishu Kaineettam at temples
Brands can join the Kaineettam tradition by giving a small gift to temple visitors on Vishu morning, presented with a branded card carrying Vishu greetings and delivered by promoters in traditional Kerala attire.
Touchvane has run Kerala-wide Vishu Kaineettam activations for a private-sector bank with 300+ promoters and for a gold loan company with 200+ promoters, at prominent temples selected across districts. Done well, it creates warm face-to-face moments that feel like part of the festival rather than advertising.
Idea 2: festive sampling and offers
- Sampling of festive foods, sweets and beverages in supermarkets in the week before Vishu
- Promoters supporting Vishu offers in jewellery, textile and electronics showrooms
- Market-day activations in town centres where families shop for the festival
Planning timeline for Vishu 2027
- January: agree the idea, districts and budget.
- February: shortlist temples and locations; begin permission conversations with temple authorities and venues.
- March: confirm locations, design the branded cards and gifts, recruit promoters.
- Early April: train promoters, finalise attire and logistics, confirm early-morning timings.
- Vishu morning: teams in place before dawn, with supervisors covering each cluster.
Doing it respectfully
Temple activations must follow the rules and wishes of each temple. Get permission in advance, keep branding modest, dress promoters in traditional attire, keep the gift and greeting simple, and never obstruct worshippers. The brand earns goodwill by fitting into the tradition, not by standing out from it.
Touchvane plans Onam, Vishu and December festive campaigns across Kerala. Start your Vishu 2027 conversation early to secure the locations you want.
